Hamilton Zoo

Following the new Health and Safety legislation, the Hamilton Zoo had identified that the current railing systems on their chimpanzee bridge posed potential risks for visitors, especially those attempting to get a closer look by climbing or leaning on the barriers. Although within current standards, their “do not climb” signs were not as safe as building an unclimbable railing system, with the help of the ISS project and engineering teams. The aim was to disestablish existing railings, fabricate and reinstate new railings - whilst minimising disturbance to the chimpanzees.
